This Wednesday, January 27th, 2021, I am going to be an official school mum – a role which I am so very much looking forward to. A role which I’ve waited just over 5.5 years to fill.
The transition from a kindy mum to a school mum I have no doubt will be quite different, but one that I’m really looking forward to experiencing.
The healthy and creative packed lunches, through to the signing up for helping at the school fete, to savouring the artwork that comes home in our school keep-sake box, I am so very excited for all that’s to come.
A new community of mums who I am sure will become friends and confidants. I am very blessed that we do already know some of the mums in our estate and the kids who will be in the prep classes with Ollie. It is going to be a wonderful time for us all. One of growth, and one of learning. That’s one thing I’ve realised since becoming a mum, every single day we are learning. Learning to be the best version of ourselves to support our little people.
Ollie is such an inquisitive kid, and I know that his little friends will be too, but the beauty of prep, in my opinion will be that just like us adults, the kids will all be so different, their little personalities shining through. I witness that heart-warmingness in the beginning of January at Ollie’s kindy graduation. It was such a proud moment. A proud moment for all parents, to witness their little ones who have grown up with being fulfilled with learning and arts/crafts/writing and drawing/singing and dancing. Finding their way in the world, in the short almost 6 years that they have been with us.
To every mum, to every dad and to every child who is starting school for the first-time next week, you’ve totally got this! Sending virtual hugs for the next stage! We can’t wait to see where the journey takes us. I look forward to sharing my journey with you all, our journey as a family of four.
A quote for food for thought: Mums are like little buttons; they hold everything together. xoxo
